Hours: One night a week for a ten week season.
Pay: $18.50 to $22 an hour
An assistant coach works alongside the head coach on a league night: running a group through the training block, then coaching a team through its two games. It is the best first coaching job we have.
HoopLife Basketball runs the HoopLife Centre at 661 Solomon Cres in Regina: weekly skills sessions, the HoopLife League, camps through every school break, open gym, and Young Stars for our youngest players. We also run basketball clinics for communities right across Canada, and our own training app, with thousands of drills and workouts built by the same coaches who run the Centre. Everything we do is built to make a young player more confident, on the floor and off it.
What you would do
- Take one group of ten through the training block while the head coach runs the floor.
- Coach a team through its two games on the night.
- Keep the energy up, correct one thing at a time, and keep every player moving.
- Greet the players and their parents on the way in and on the way out.
- Complete a criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening before your first shift. We walk you through it.

Do I need experience?
No. This is our entry level coaching job. If you know basketball and you are good with young people, we will teach you the rest.

How old do you have to be?
Eighteen and up. If you are younger, our scorekeeper job starts at sixteen and is a good way in.
