The transformation

What playing every week changes

Plenty of kids can do the drill and still disappear in a game. 3x3 closes that gap, because there is nowhere to hide and no possession they are not part of.

Standing in the corner waiting for a turn
In every single possession
Drills that never show up in a game
Skills used live, against a defender
Freezing when the ball arrives
Attacking the moment it comes
Told what went wrong next week
Corrected in the moment it happens
Knows the moves
Reads the game
Why 3x3

The single best way to learn how to actually play

Far more touches

Three a side puts your child in every possession, up to 60% more touches than a full game, and far more real decisions every minute they are on the floor.

Nowhere to hide

Nobody stands in the corner waiting for a turn. Every player handles the ball, shoots and defends in every game.

A game they can read

The court is open, so there is room to see the play, react and decide. Coaching lands in the moment, because with six players on the floor the coach sees everything.

The coaches are outstanding. They are knowledgeable, patient, and truly care about each child's development. They take the time to break down skills, encourage effort, and build confidence in every player... The training sessions are well organized and very effective... You can really see the improvement in skills, teamwork, and overall understanding of the game after just a few sessions... We are extremely happy with our experience and would highly recommend HoopLife Basketball Training to any family looking for a high-quality program where kids can learn, grow, and truly enjoy the game.

We signed up our 8-year-old son for the 3-month membership and have really enjoyed our experience. Logistically, I like that all the sessions are laid out in advance, so you can choose what works best for your schedule. It was a great experience for our son to have different coaches and play with different kids regularly. He really enjoyed the coaches! They were friendly, knowledgeable and really helped him to improve his skills. The facility itself is fantastic, and we're glad we gave this a shot!

Zane from Hooplife is such an amazing Coach. Our son, Keith, not just loves the sport, but he also loves the coaches. We feel very welcome and “at home”, there. They're very friendly to everyone. Also, the skills that they're teaching our son are very helpful for his development. Our son hopes to get accepted in a basketball club while training with HoopLife.

How it fits together

3x3 is where the training shows up

A skills session builds the shot, the handle and the footwork. A 3x3 session is where your player finds out which of it holds up with someone guarding them. Kids who come to one of each in a week improve the fastest, and both use the same credits.

When they are ready for a full season with real games, referees and a team of their own, that is the HoopLife League. When school is out, that is camp. The weekly sessions are what make all of it easier.

For parents

Questions, answered

What is a 3x3 session?

One hour of three-on-three basketball, coached. Your player comes in and plays, with a HoopLife coach on the floor correcting habits as they happen. There is no long drill line and no waiting for a turn.

Why 3x3 instead of a full five-on-five game?

Three a side puts your child in every possession: up to 60% more touches than a full game, and far more real decisions every minute. The court is more open, so there is room to read the play, react and decide. That is the part of basketball only live play can teach.

Does my kid need experience?

No. Every age group is open to any level. Knowing the basics is enough for the ages 7-10 group, and the older groups run everyone from rec players to kids in a competitive club season.

How do we pay for it?

Each session costs one session credit. Credits come from a Session Pack or a Membership, and the same credits work on every weekly session we run.

When do 3x3 sessions run?

Every week of the year, including summer, at the HoopLife Facility, 661 Solomon Cres. The weekly schedule shows every 3x3 time by age group.

Should they do 3x3 or skills training?

Both, if they can. Skills training builds the shot, the handle and the footwork. 3x3 is where those turn into a real game. Kids who do one of each a week improve fastest.

What should they bring?

A labelled basketball, a water bottle, indoor non-marking court shoes and athletic clothing. That is it.

What if the cost is a stretch for us right now?

We never want the cost to be the reason a child misses out on basketball. There is funding support available through BOOST Kids, and we will do what we can to help. Just ask.
