The Day an NBA Skills Trainer Ran Practice in Regina

On November 8, 2025, the trainer trusted by Klay Thompson and Zach LaVine spent a whole day coaching Regina kids on our floor. Here is what happened, and why it keeps happening.

Jordan Lawley and Marek Klassen with the whole clinic circled at centre court in Regina
The short version
  • Jordan Lawley has trained Kobe Bryant, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, Zach LaVine, Paolo Banchero and Josh Giddey.
  • Marek Klassen is a Team Canada 3x3 pro, a CEBL All-Star, and set the league's single-game assist record.
  • They ran four sessions in one day at the HoopLife Centre: ages 7-10, two for 11-14, and high school and university.
  • Pro-Level Clinics are a series, not a one-off — HoopLife keeps flying elite talent into Regina.

Most Regina kids will never be in the same gym as the people who train NBA players. On November 8, 2025, a gym full of them were — without leaving the city.

Who came

Jordan Lawley is one of the NBA's most trusted skills trainers. His client list reads like an All-Star ballot: Kobe Bryant, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, Zach LaVine, Paolo Banchero, Josh Giddey. A former NCAA All-American guard, he builds the modern scoring, footwork and game-IQ work the pros use to stay sharp.

Marek Klassen came with him: a Canadian pro who has played across Europe, Turkey, the UK and the NBA G League, a Team Canada 3x3 athlete, and a CEBL All-Star who led that league in assists and set its single-game assist record.

What the day looked like

Four sessions, back to back, so every age got the pros at their own level: ages 7-10 in the morning, two sessions for ages 11-14 through midday, and a high school and university session to close the day. Every athlete trained the way Jordan trains pros — scoring moves, footwork, decision speed — with Marek layering in the playmaking that made him the best passer in his league.

Every participant left with a performance shirt and, more importantly, with proof that the level above them is a real thing you can watch, copy and chase.

Why we keep doing this

The Pro-Level Clinic Series is exactly that — a series. Phillip Morrison, a pro guard who has played in six countries, ran the next one. The point is always the same: Regina kids should not have to move away to see what elite looks like. We bring it here, put it on our floor, and let them train with it.

Between clinics, that standard lives in the everyday coaching: the same written playbook runs our weekly sessions and the HoopLife League, so what a pro lights up in a kid gets reinforced week after week after the clinic ends.

Frequently asked questions

Who has HoopLife brought to Regina?

NBA skills trainer Jordan Lawley, Team Canada 3x3 pro Marek Klassen, and pro guard Phillip Morrison have all led clinics at the HoopLife Centre. See the Pro-Level Clinic Series page for who is coming next.

How do I hear about the next pro clinic?

Clinics go up on the Pro-Level Clinics page as each athlete is confirmed, and the notify list on that page hears first. Spots are limited and they sell out.

What ages are pro clinics for?

Each visit is split into age-group sessions — the Lawley and Klassen day ran ages 7-10, 11-14 and high school and university sessions — so every athlete trains at their own level.

The coaches are outstanding. They are knowledgeable, patient, and truly care about each child's development. They take the time to break down skills, encourage effort, and build confidence in every player... The training sessions are well organized and very effective... You can really see the improvement in skills, teamwork, and overall understanding of the game after just a few sessions... We are extremely happy with our experience and would highly recommend HoopLife Basketball Training to any family looking for a high-quality program where kids can learn, grow, and truly enjoy the game.

We signed up our 8-year-old son for the 3-month membership and have really enjoyed our experience. Logistically, I like that all the sessions are laid out in advance, so you can choose what works best for your schedule. It was a great experience for our son to have different coaches and play with different kids regularly. He really enjoyed the coaches! They were friendly, knowledgeable and really helped him to improve his skills. The facility itself is fantastic, and we're glad we gave this a shot!

Zane from Hooplife is such an amazing Coach. Our son, Keith, not just loves the sport, but he also loves the coaches. We feel very welcome and “at home”, there. They're very friendly to everyone. Also, the skills that they're teaching our son are very helpful for his development. Our son hopes to get accepted in a basketball club while training with HoopLife.
