Where in Canada We Are Hiring Basketball Coaches
Our clinics run coast to coast, so our coaches have to as well. Here is where we are looking and why the city you live in genuinely changes things.
- We hire travel clinic coaches nationwide, not only in Regina.
- $20 to $35 an hour plus bonuses, with flights, hotels and living expenses covered.
- Smaller centres count. A coach in Red Deer or Lethbridge is as useful to us as one downtown.
- Regina also hires separately for weekly sessions and league teams, in person.
HoopLife's home is Regina, but our clinics are not. We run them in communities across the country, a large share of them First Nations communities, many of them a long way from a major centre.
That makes where our coaches live a practical question rather than a formality. A coach who already lives within reach of a community is the difference between us being able to say yes to a booking and having to work out whether the travel makes sense.
Where we are looking
Broadly, everywhere. But concretely, we want coaches based in or near:
- British Columbia: Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, Victoria, Kelowna, Kamloops, Prince George
- Alberta: Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, Lethbridge
- Saskatchewan: Regina, Saskatoon, Prince Albert
- Manitoba: Winnipeg, Brandon
- Ontario: Toronto and the GTA, Ottawa, Hamilton, London, Kitchener-Waterloo, Windsor, Thunder Bay, Sudbury
- Quebec: Montreal, Quebec City, Gatineau
- Atlantic Canada: Halifax, Moncton, Fredericton, Saint John, Charlottetown, St. John's
- The North: Whitehorse, Yellowknife
If your town is not on that list, apply anyway. The list is where we know we have demand, not a boundary. Surrounding areas count everywhere, and a strong coach in a smaller centre is often more useful to us than another one in a big city.
The role, wherever you are
You travel out for a clinic, usually a weekend. Roughly 6 to 12 hours of coaching for kids aged 7 to 17, beginner through elite. You run the gym, you tear it down, you head home.
$20 to $35 an hour plus bonuses. Flights, hotels and living expenses are covered by HoopLife. Hours are flexible, from about 10 a week up to 40-plus, and you set the pace.
You need to be a Canadian or American citizen, because the work crosses the border.
If you are in Regina, there is more
Regina is the one city where we hire for the gym as well as the road. There are weekly skills sessions at the HoopLife Centre, evenings and weekends at $15 to $25 an hour, and league teams to lead through a 10-week season. A lot of our full-time coaches got there by combining the two with the occasional clinic.
What we are looking for
Real experience with the game, the ability to hold a room of kids, enough fitness to be on the floor for hours, and genuinely liking the age group. The level you played at matters far less than people expect. The full version is here.
What "based in" actually means
It does not mean we have an office in your city. It means you live there, we fly or drive you out from there, and you come home there afterward. There is no relocation and no reporting to a local branch.
What it does mean practically: you are the person we call when a community within reach of you books a clinic. The closer you are, the more often that is you.
Why we are not just hiring in Regina for this
Because the map does not work that way. Sending a team from Regina to a community in northern Ontario or the Maritimes costs a day of travel each way and a flight. Sending someone who already lives four hours away costs a drive.
That difference decides whether we can say yes to a community at a price they can afford. So a good coach in Thunder Bay or Moncton genuinely unlocks bookings that a good coach in Regina cannot.
What you get out of it
Beyond the pay: you see parts of this country most people never do, on somebody else's flight budget, doing something that matters when you get there. Coaches who have done a few of these describe them the way people describe travel, not the way people describe shifts.

Frequently asked questions
Do I have to live in Regina to coach for HoopLife?
No. Travel clinic coaches are based right across Canada. Only the weekly sessions and league teams are in Regina, because those happen in our own gym.
What if I live in a small town rather than a major city?
That often helps rather than hurts. Many clinics are a long way from major centres, so a coach already in a smaller community can reach places others cannot.
What does it pay and are expenses covered?
$20 to $35 an hour plus bonuses, and HoopLife covers travel, flights and living expenses. You are not paying up front and claiming it back.
Can I do this part-time?
Yes. The role runs from about 10 hours a week up to 40-plus. Plenty of coaches take one clinic occasionally around another job or around school.
